The Open Platform (TOP), a key player in The Open Network (TON) blockchain ecosystem, has announced a strategic investment in Pluto Studio, the creative force behind the increasingly popular Telegram-based crypto game, Catizen. This investment marks a significant step in the evolution of Telegram as a platform for social gaming.
Catizen’s rapid growth is notable, with the game’s player base reaching 25 million, as announced by Pluto Studio. The specifics of the investment remain undisclosed, yet this move underlines TOP’s commitment to fostering innovative gaming experiences on Telegram. Catizen has capitalized on the platform’s expansive user base by integrating engaging puzzle mechanics where players merge and upgrade feline characters in a virtual cat cafe.
Token Airdrop and Economic Incentives
In a strategic move to boost player engagement, Pluto Studio announced that 43% of the total token supply would be distributed through an airdrop to Catizen players, coinciding with the token’s launch on TON. This initiative aims to reward the game’s active community and stimulate further growth.
Andrew Rogozov, founder and CEO of The Open Platform, praised the Catizen team for setting new benchmarks in the Telegram mini-apps ecosystem. “Their innovative approach is setting a new standard for thousands of developers,” Rogozov stated, emphasizing the game’s impact on shaping the future of gaming on Telegram.
Pluto Studio’s vision extends beyond Catizen, as it plans to transform the game into a hub for the attention economy, continually adding new mini-games to its ecosystem. This strategy mirrors that of Notcoin, another Telegram-based game developed by TOP, which is looking to expand its offerings following a successful token launch in May, akin to creating a “Netflix of social, viral games.”
Further Expansion in Gaming Investments In a parallel development, TOP disclosed another investment into Akedo Games, a studio with developers who previously contributed to major titles like League of Legends and PUBG Mobile. Akedo Games is currently developing a virtual pet game for Telegram, named “AkeDog,” which will allow players to collect, nurture, and engage in battles with their virtual pets.
These investments by TOP underscore a broader strategy to leverage Telegram’s vast user base for developing a diverse range of engaging, blockchain-based social games. By backing projects like Catizen and Akedo Games, TOP is not only enriching the gaming landscape on Telegram but also pioneering new interactive experiences that integrate gaming with the burgeoning field of digital currencies.
