Sky Mavis Launches Ronin Forge to Boost Crypto Gaming

Sky Mavis, the developer behind the Ronin sidechain network on Ethereum, has unveiled a new initiative, Ronin Forge, aimed at fostering innovation in the crypto gaming sphere. Announced on Thursday, this early access program is designed to support up to six gaming studios with grants and infrastructure to develop “experimental” crypto games on the Ronin network.

Participating studios will benefit from a $50,000 grant, comprehensive access to Ronin’s robust infrastructure, and the opportunity to engage with its vibrant gaming community. This initiative marks a strategic effort by Sky Mavis to leverage its ecosystem to nurture new gaming concepts and technologies within the Web3 space.

Ronin is renowned for hosting popular titles such as Pixels, Axie Infinity, and the highly anticipated Ragnarok: Monster World. Although currently a closed ecosystem controlled by Sky Mavis, there are plans to open it up to a broader range of developers in the future, democratizing the development process on the network.

“Ronin Forge is the next step in further opening up Ronin for builders. By offering grants and access to the Sky Mavis ecosystem, this will serve as an experimental ground for developing the next generation of Web3 games,” said Aleksander Leonard Larsen, co-founder, COO, and Chairman of Sky Mavis. He expressed his enthusiasm for fostering innovation and building network effects by inviting like-minded studios to collaborate on scaling the Ronin Network.

Studios that excel within the Forge program may advance to “Studio Partner” status, which comes with advisory support and the possibility of receiving up to an additional $500,000 in funding from Sky Mavis. This tiered support system is designed to recognize and amplify high-performing teams, propelling them towards greater success and influence within the gaming industry.

Ronin Forge represents a significant step by Sky Mavis to cultivate a fertile environment for the growth of Web3 gaming. By providing financial backing, technical resources, and community engagement opportunities, Sky Mavis is not only advancing its own platform but is also contributing to the broader evolution of the gaming sector in the blockchain ecosystem.
