Amid the growing popularity of Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, Ripple President Monica Long has expressed confidence that an XRP Spot ETF could be the next major cryptocurrency investment product approved in the United States.
Long highlighted the upcoming administration change as a key factor that could accelerate regulatory approval. Her remarks come at a time of optimism for the crypto industry, following the approval of Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETFs last year.
The Next ETF: XRP Over Solana?
The debate over which cryptocurrency would follow Bitcoin and Ethereum in gaining ETF approval has long centered on Solana (SOL). However, Ripple’s ongoing regulatory challenges had cast doubt over XRP’s candidacy.
With Donald Trump poised to take office and Gary Gensler’s departure as SEC chairman, Ripple’s leadership is optimistic about a favorable regulatory environment in 2025.
Monica Long’s Take on XRP ETF Prospects
In a recent Bloomberg interview, Monica Long stated her belief that XRP is next in line for ETF approval.
“I think we will see one very soon,” Long said. “I think that we will see more crypto spot ETFs this year coming out of the US, and I think XRP is likely to be next in line after Bitcoin and Ether.”
She also emphasized the role of the new administration in expediting the process.
“We think, especially with the administration change, the approvals of those filings will accelerate,” she noted.
Ripple’s Focus on Stablecoin Growth
In addition to its ETF ambitions, Ripple is doubling down on its stablecoin offering, RLUSD, which has gained traction in the market. Long confirmed that the stablecoin will soon be available on additional exchanges, aligning with Ripple’s broader 2025 growth strategy.
“We’re excited about RLUSD’s potential, and its availability on more exchanges is imminent,” she stated, signaling the company’s commitment to expanding its ecosystem.
A Transformative Year for Ripple?
Ripple’s renewed optimism comes after years of legal battles with the SEC over the status of XRP. With a potential XRP Spot ETF on the horizon, Ripple is positioning itself for a transformative 2025, buoyed by regulatory changes and an expanding product lineup.
As Long’s comments suggest, the company is not just waiting for external factors but actively pushing forward initiatives to cement its place in the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
