The studio behind Fableborne, Pixion Games, has announced that its mobile multiplayer game will migrate from Avalanche to Ronin, an Ethereum sidechain network focused on Web3 gaming. The decision, according to Pixion Games founder and CEO Kam Punia, is rooted in Ronin’s strong, built-in gaming community—a factor they see as key to fostering Fableborne’s growth.
Fableborne combines action RPG gameplay with base-building strategy for players who prefer “short, snackable sessions.” The game recently wrapped up its second beta season, drawing over 100,000 players with an average engagement rate of 18 hours per week. Season 3, slated to be the biggest yet, will introduce crypto elements for the first time, marking a significant step toward its full 2025 launch.
The “Ronin Effect”: Joining a Vibrant Gaming Ecosystem
Moving to Ronin, Pixion Games joins a network known for its dedicated community, often referred to as the “Ronin Effect.” Ronin, developed by Sky Mavis—the team behind Axie Infinity—has become a popular destination for blockchain games, with some seeing impressive growth upon joining the platform. Axie Infinity itself was one of the first Web3 games to take off, generating billions in NFT trading volume. Although Axie’s economy later faced challenges, the Sky Mavis team now offers its insights to other game developers.
“Tapping into Sky Mavis’ vault of knowledge and community experience is invaluable for us,” Punia said, adding that no other ecosystem could offer the same level of experience specific to blockchain gaming.
Crypto Elements and Season 3’s Debut
So far, Fableborne has focused on refining its core gameplay, but with the upcoming third season, Web3 elements will be integrated into the game. Although specific details are scarce, Punia hinted at introducing NFTs, with in-game heroes and equipment gaining unique traits tailored to different playstyles.
Season 3 will offer three weeks of playtime and act as a significant step toward the game’s official release. With Ronin’s support, Pixion Games aims to create a category-defining hit for the Web3 gaming space. “Everything we do is defined by that North Star,” Punia said, referring to the goal of making Fableborne a long-lasting success.
A Final Push to a Full Global Launch in 2025
As Pixion Games looks toward a 2025 global launch, Punia stressed the importance of Ronin as a partner in helping the studio navigate the Web3 gaming landscape. “In Web3 you can run 1,000 experiments and still fail,” he noted, explaining that Ronin’s community and Sky Mavis’s experience make it the ideal platform for testing and refining the game’s Web3 components.
With plans to reveal more about Season 3 in the coming weeks, Fableborne is set to become a major contender in Web3 gaming. Through Ronin, Pixion Games hopes to reach new heights, building on the network’s community and expertise to bring its vision for Fableborne to life.
