Cudis Smart Ring Challenges Oura with AI and Crypto

A new contender is emerging in the wearable technology arena as Cudis introduces its Genesis smart ring, equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and a unique crypto earning feature, aiming to take on the market leader, Oura.

Smart rings are compact devices designed to measure health metrics such as heart rate, step count, sleep tracking, and more, all in a smaller form factor than smartwatches. Oura currently holds a commanding 62% share of this market, as reported by Maia Research.

The Genesis ring, however, seeks to differentiate itself by incorporating an AI-powered coach that provides personalized health and wellness advice. Additionally, it introduces a rewards program linked to a future token airdrop on the Solana blockchain.

Cudis kicked off its launch with a successful first round of pre-orders on May 1, selling 1,500 rings, with shipments to customers commencing this week. The second pre-order phase is now open, offering 8,500 additional rings.

While many of Genesis’s features are standard in the wearable space—like tracking heart rates, steps, sleep, and even menstrual cycles, which devices like the Oura ring and Apple Watch already cover—Cudis is pushing the envelope in terms of personalized interaction and AI integration.

Leveraging GPT-4o from OpenAI, alongside other AI models and insights from fitness experts, the Genesis ring allows users to select an AI coach with varying personalities. This coach interacts in natural language, providing tailored advice based on user-specific data.

The specificity and personalization of Genesis’s AI advice are central to its appeal, contrasting with the more generic guidance often found in competing products like the Ultrahuman Ring Air. Cudis aims to provide unique, actionable insights that genuinely enhance user health and wellness.

Additionally, Cudis is innovating with its “use-to-earn” rewards program. Users accumulate points through interaction with the device and app, with future plans to convert these points into cryptocurrency via a Solana token, enhancing the value proposition by allowing users to monetize their health data.

The company stands firm on the philosophy of user empowerment through data ownership, promising that the Genesis ring not only monitors health metrics but also aids in their monetization and secure sharing, with benefits directly returned to the users.

With the second round of pre-orders underway, the Genesis ring is priced at 1.5 Solana (approximately $220). A fiat currency payment option is expected soon, and the anticipated retail price upon broader availability will be $349.
