Adin Ross’ GTA 6 Crypto Server Faces Uncertain Future

Popular Kick streamer Adin Ross has announced plans to launch a crypto-integrated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) server, collaborating with gaming influencer and FaZe Clan co-founder Richard “FaZe Banks” Bengtson.

Ross made the reveal during a livestream on Monday, promising that the role-playing server would be “completely crypto” and “game-changing.”

“When GTA 6 drops, me and Ricky are going to make the biggest server together,” Ross declared. “Everything pro-crypto about it. It’s going to change the game.”

Banks further hinted that the in-game economy would run on a newly created cryptocurrency, and both influencers would invest heavily in its development.

However, if history is any indicator, this crypto-fueled project may be doomed from the start.

Rockstar’s Anti-Crypto Stance

Ross and Banks may face a serious roadblockRockstar Games’ strict anti-crypto policy.

In 2022, Rockstar banned the use of crypto assets, NFTs, and blockchain technology in Grand Theft Auto Online (GTAO) and Red Dead Online. This forced several crypto-integrated GTA 5 servers to shut down, including rapper Lil Durk’s NFT-powered GTA server, The Trenches.

Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, even sent legal notices to operators of unauthorized crypto-based servers, making it clear that blockchain gaming has no place in GTA’s ecosystem.

With GTA 6 expected to launch later this year, it’s unlikely that Rockstar will suddenly reverse course on this policy.

Could GTA 6 Include Crypto After All?

Despite Rockstar’s strict anti-crypto approach, rumors have circulated for years that GTA 6 might feature in-game Bitcoin rewards or crypto payments.

Speculation about crypto’s role in GTA 6 dates back to 2021, but Rockstar has never confirmed or denied these rumors. Some believe that rather than incorporating crypto as an actual gameplay feature, the franchise will simply mock the industry in its satirical style—as it has done with real-world finance, politics, and tech in past installments.

Interestingly, Take-Two Interactive has experimented with crypto gaming, having acquired Zynga in 2022 while it was developing the NFT-based mobile game Sugartown. However, by late 2024, Zynga’s crypto division spun off into D20 Labs, suggesting that Take-Two’s crypto ambitions may have cooled down.

Will Ross and Banks’ Crypto Server Survive?

If Rockstar maintains its current stance, Adin Ross and FaZe Banks’ crypto-driven GTA 6 server may never see the light of day.

While gaming companies have changed course in the past, Rockstar has historically taken aggressive legal action against projects that violate its terms of service—especially those that try to monetize in-game assets through crypto.

Still, the gaming and crypto landscapes are constantly evolving. After all, Donald Trump went from a crypto skeptic to launching his own meme coin—so anything is possible.

But for now, it looks like Ross and Banks’ grand vision for a GTA 6 crypto economy could be over before it even begins.
