XProtocol Unveils XForge Smartphone

An entertainment-focused Ethereum layer-3 network named XProtocol announced on Wednesday that it’s releasing an Android-powered smartphone optimized for gaming later this year. Dubbed the XForge, this device is being billed as the world’s first “DePIN phone”. Allowing users to earn rewards and participate in airdrops through the network.

Priced at $299, the XForge Smartphone boasts impressive specs, including 256GB of storage, 12GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Initially built on Base, Coinbase’s layer-2 scaling network on Ethereum. XProtocol plans to migrate to its own layer-1 network to achieve greater autonomy and scalability.

A New Era of DePIN Phones

XProtocol describes DePIN—short for decentralized physical infrastructure networks—as a way to underpin networks of physical hardware with blockchain technology. Free Nodes for Early Buyers

The company is offering a “free node” to the first 10,000 purchasers of the XForge Smartphone. This incentive allows early adopters to participate in the network’s validation process.
