Hamster Kombat Launches Blockchain on TON for Web3 Gaming

Hamster Kombat has unveiled Hamster Network, a layer-2 blockchain built on The Open Network (TON) to enhance Web3 gaming and decentralized applications (dApps), the project announced on February 25.

The team confirmed that Hamster Network is the first gaming-focused layer-2 blockchain within the TON ecosystem, offering developers the ability to build fully on-chain games and applications.

“We’re not talking about centralized games that store only specific pieces of data or NFTs onchain. We’re talking about games whose entire logic is enshrined in smart contracts.”

🛠️ Developer-Friendly & Fully On-Chain Gaming

According to the Hamster Kombat team, the layer-2 solution will allow developers to build directly on the network using Solidity, the widely used programming language for smart contracts.

🔹 Key features of Hamster Network:

Fully on-chain gaming—not just NFTs, but entire game logic stored on blockchain.
Seamless integration with TON—users with a TON wallet can use the same address on the Hamster Network.
Scalability & interoperability—enhancing TON’s capabilities with faster and cheaper transactions.

“An efficient L2 solution built on TON will benefit everyone by enabling the network to scale and enhancing interoperability.”

🌍 Expanding the Hamster Ecosystem with ‘Hamster Verse’

The launch of Hamster Network is part of a larger strategy to expand beyond gaming.

Season 2 of Hamster Kombat will lay the foundation for an entertainment ecosystem called ‘Hamster Verse’, which revolves around characters from the Web3 game.

To support this growing ecosystem, the project’s decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) proposed the layer-2 network, launching it with essential infrastructure, including:

🔹 A crypto wallet
🔹 A cross-chain bridge
🔹 A decentralized exchange (DEX)

📉 HMSTR Token Drops 35% in February but Remains Central to Ecosystem

Despite the broader crypto market downturn, Hamster Kombat’s HMSTR token dropped 35% in February, falling from $0.00272 on Feb. 1 to $0.00176, per CoinGecko data.

However, the team insists that HMSTR remains a key component of the Hamster ecosystem:

“It works as gas for transactions, governance participation, validating the network, and rewarding active community members and developers.”

📊 Hamster Kombat’s User Base Shrinks, but Core Community Stays

At its peak, Hamster Kombat attracted over 300 million users. However, as new TON-based projects emerged, monthly active users declined to 11.5 million, according to Telegram data.

Despite the drop, the team remains optimistic:

“We’ve retained our core users and plan to re-engage with innovative experiences in the ecosystem.”

With the launch of Hamster Network, the project is positioning itself as a long-term player in the Web3 gaming space, offering a fully decentralized gaming and dApp ecosystem on TON.
