Google has partnered with Degen Distillery, joining another partner, Brewdog, in supporting Degen’s innovative NFT initiative. This London-based company specializes in tech-driven spirit production and is venturing into a unique “social distribution” project through NFTs. This initiative allows community members to influence the distribution of Degen’s products and potentially accumulate wealth and recognition.
Degen Distillery has already formed a partnership with Brewdog, a Scottish craft brewer with a valuation of $2 billion, through Brewdog’s JetPack program. The new collaboration with Google will further boost Degen’s profile, with a series of announcements expected via Google’s Web3 startup program. This program provides Degen with valuable resources like Google Cloud credits, technical support, access to a community of leading Web3 businesses, funding opportunities, and Google’s vast network.
Sammy Verghese, a seasoned entrepreneur and the CEO and co-founder of Degen Labs, emphasized that their partnership with Google is a significant step in pioneering and scaling ‘social distribution’ with their community of creators, innovators, and disruptors.
Despite the challenges faced by the NFT market, especially in the art sector, Degen Distillery sees potential in utilizing NFTs beyond traditional uses. Comparing an NFT to a candy bar wrapper, Degen suggests that NFTs can encapsulate various digital forms, including images, videos, music, festival tickets, and distilled products, ensuring clear ownership.
Degen Distillery is expanding the application of NFTs to the realm of distilled spirits, involving community members not just in product distribution but also in co-creation. Their initial offering, 721 Vodka, named after the number of community participants, is expected to be of high quality. Additionally, Degen is encouraging users to license their NFTs, intellectual property, or art for use on their product bottles, signaling a new phase in the evolution of NFTs.
