Fren Pet V3: Revolutionizing NFT Gaming with Pets on Base Network

Check out Fren Pet, a cool new team project by @Surfcoderepeat and @Cadu that’s shaking things up in the NFT world. It’s like a modern twist on Tamagotchi, but with a collaborative spin, and it’s all happening on Coinbase’s latest Base Network. @Surfcoderepeat, the tech wizard behind several MuseDAO initiatives, and @Cadu, a key player in the NFT20, Battle Royal, and Cudl scenes, are the brains behind this venture.

To get started you will need to install the app on your mobile device. Follow the instructions in the docs, this should be simple enough. Through a collaboration with the lovely people at Privy, an Ethereum wallet will be opened on your behalf. Should you feel the need, one can export this wallet to metamask (it is the writer’s duty to advise other W3 ETH wallets are available, although we are not sure why) using the private keys. Please do not, or at your own peril, no matter how nicely asked tell this private key to ANYONE. It gives control of the wallet and its contents to whoever may possess it. Another big thing is, and this cannot be overstated, PLEASE DONT SEND YOUR START-UP ETH TO MAINNET. SEND IT TO BASENET. Although the funds will not be lost. You will have to export your wallet to an exterior W3 wallet and either send it to a CEX and then re-send ON BASE NET or bridge it from whatever layer (probably mainnet) you sent it to, to BASENET. Once you have managed this, not so monumental feat you will be ready to play the game. Not worthy of its paragraph, start by Minting a pet. Which is free, when you join the app you’ll get a randomly generated pet and can start playing right away.

Feeding and Other Life-Affecting Choices:

Keep your pet alive in the “My pet” tab, where you’ll find a 3-day TOD countdown, a mushroom, and a staking option.

To prevent pet death and NFT hibernation:

1. Feed your pet a mushroom by clicking the icon and spending 1 $FP, earning 5 points and resetting the TOD to 3 days. $FP spent on mushrooms is burned.
2. Staking $FP also resets the TOD to 3 days.

Each mushroom resets TOD to 3 days without accumulation.

Rename your pet by clicking on it and entering a new name, which appears on the leaderboard and in battles.

If not fed, pets enter a 7-day hibernation, keeping items but limiting game interaction. Fail to feed during hibernation, and the pet is permanently lost.

Reactivate a hibernating pet with an extra 10 $FP for the first mushroom. Hibernating pets risk losing more points if attacked. Players have 7 days to revive their pet or risk it being destroyed, with marketplace items sold and rewards moved to the player’s wallet.

$FP and Rewards:

The Fren Pet Rewards System introduces a unique economic model within the $FP token ecosystem, characterized by a 5% transaction tax on buys and sells. Once 1000 $FP tokens are collected in taxes, they’re automatically converted to ETH and allocated as follows:

• 2% is awarded to players as in-game rewards.
• 2% is allocated to the Fren Pet development team.
• 1% is reinvested into the liquidity pool to bolster the $FP economy.

Player rewards are distributed based on the proportion of an individual’s in-game points to the total game-wide points. Claiming rewards resets your points and pet level, requiring strategic planning for reward claims.

The system operates through a uniV2 contract, with a policy to potentially block uniV3 pools to protect player interests. Players with tokens in uniV3 pools should contact support for assistance.

Initially, 100% of FP tokens were made available through a pool, with a buying cap of approximately $0.80 per player, allowing for the purchase of up to 5000 $FP tokens. This facilitated the minting of pets and game participation without any pre-allocation of tokens to the development team, ensuring all tokens they possess were obtained through the game’s mechanisms. The liquidity is migrating to UniSwap to take advantage of the superior volume and more user-friendly UI.

Customize Your Pet:

The in-game marketplace offers an extensive array of items for players, ranging from purely cosmetic enhancements to incredibly beneficial tools that can significantly impact gameplay. Among the plethora of options, players can find shields that offer protection from potential attacks by other players, or even insurance policies that automatically resurrect your pet should its Time Of Death (TOD) countdown reach zero, leading to its untimely demise.

Every item available within the shop is purchasable using the in-game currency, $FP. The pricing mechanism for these items is based on a linear bonding curve, ensuring a dynamic and fair pricing model that adjusts based on the supply and demand within the game environment. This means that the cost delta for each item, which represents the price variation or the difference in cost for purchasing additional items, is transparently displayed within the shop interface. This system provides players with a clear understanding of the investment required to enhance their gameplay experience, allowing for strategic planning and resource allocation.

Stake To Play:

In the Stake to Play (S2P) model, $FP staked for game enhancements is fully refunded over 30 days. For example, staking 30 $FP for a pet upgrade returns 1 $FP daily until fully refunded, with the option to withdraw at any time. This ensures players can continuously play and upgrade.

Players earn points, claimable as ETH from $FP transactions, through activities like staking $FP, winning PVP battles, defeating monsters, lucky wheel spins, and feeding a mushroom, which grants 5 points.

Player Vs Environment:

In the Player Vs Environment (PVE) mode, players have multiple avenues to earn rewards by exploring the game world, including:

• Daily Spin The Wheel
• Dice game
• Gatcha machine

Spin The Wheel allows each pet a daily chance (free of gas fees) to earn points from the 2% of $FP trading activity shared among players.

Dice offers players the opportunity to win up to 50 $FP per game by competing against others. Entry costs 10 $FP, and the sequence of joining (1 to 6) assigns your dice number for the roll, which occurs once six players have joined.

Gatcha Machine rewards pets with a free spin each time they level up, providing a chance to gain or lose attack or defense points, essential for progressing in the Fren Pet World.

These games utilize a commit-and-reveal system to guarantee fairness over time.

Player Vs Player:

In Player vs. player (PVP) mode, battles provide an engaging way to compete and earn rewards:

Battles occur every 30 minutes, allowing you to challenge pets that are a level higher and have not been engaged in combat for an hour. The outcome is determined by comparing your pet’s attack and defense points against your opponent’s, making strategic selection crucial. Victors gain 0.5% of the defeated pet’s points, influencing ETH rewards.

Defense and Attack Score begins at 10 AP (Attack Points) and 10 DP (Defense Points) for each pet. Leveling up through upgrades allows a spin on the gatcha machine, offering additional APs or DPs. The formula for calculating win probability is the attacker’s AP divided by the sum of the attacker’s AP and the defender’s DP.

Kills are a dramatic aspect where pets with a Time Of Death (TOD) at zero can be killed, burning the NFT on-chain to earn a star, a rare and valuable asset. Players can view their star count in the “my pet” tab, adding a layer of strategy and reward to the PVP experience.

Fren Pet World Quests:

In Fren Pet World’s quest system, battles against other players pave the way to challenging monsters:

• After 40 wins in PVP battles, you earn the right to confront a monster.
• Victories in these encounters allow you to claim the monster as an ERC1155 NFT.

How it operates:

• Engage pets in battles, choosing those with stats compatible with your level to improve your odds.
• Every 40 PVP victories grant you a monster battle, with winning odds at a flat 50-50, unaffected by your AP and DP.
• A win secures the monster as an ERC1155 NFT; a loss requires two additional PVP wins for another chance.
• Triumphs over monsters yield pGOLD, points, and the rare, game-mechanic-limited monster NFT, hinting at future exchange/trade possibilities.
