Geist: Pixelcraft’s New Ethereum Layer-3 Blockchain

Pixelcraft Studios, creators of the popular crypto game Aavegotchi, has announced plans to launch an exclusive Ethereum layer-3 gaming blockchain named Geist. Aimed at addressing the challenges of high player turnover and bot manipulation in crypto gaming, Geist promises a secure and rewarding environment for its members.

Innovative Approach to Crypto Gaming

Pixelcraft CEO Coderdan highlighted that Geist is designed as a response to the need for a more trustworthy gaming blockchain. By leveraging Arbitrum’s Orbit technology and Coinbase’s Base network for settlement, with additional support from blockchain development platform Alchemy, Geist is setting up a multi-faceted approach to scaling and security.

Membership and Access

Access to the Geist network will be initially available to players who meet specific criteria, such as owning an Aavegotchi NFT. Membership requires ongoing dues, although initial invites include a seven-day free trial. Pre-existing Aavegotchi NFT owners will benefit from complimentary memberships, with further details on membership fees yet to be announced.

A Curated Gaming Experience

Geist will operate as a permissioned blockchain, allowing developers to carefully select which teams can build on the platform. This approach aims to maintain a high-quality and curated selection of games, all approved by Pixelcraft Studios or AavegotchiDAO. The network will feature unique rewards like badges and loot boxes, seamless game integrations, and an exclusive NFT marketplace dubbed Aavegotchi Baazaar.

Technical Innovations and Future Plans

Geist is set to introduce several technical enhancements, including a native on-chain random number generator and support for gasless transactions. The platform’s native token, Aavegotchi’s GHST, will play a central role within the ecosystem. Additionally, future plans include enabling members to earn from marketplace and sequencer fees through staking activities.

While a firm launch date for Geist has not been set, a testnet phase is expected soon, with a full rollout planned for the coming months.
