After announcing the AnimeChain project in March, the AnimeCoin Foundation—the group behind the eponymous token—launched a web-based game called Gacha Grab on Monday.
Gacha Grab resembles a virtual slot machine, drawing inspiration from Japanese gachapon toy vending machines. In this game, players are tasked with spinning the dial to earn points and prizes. Each spin costs 100 credits and guarantees one Gachapon collectible. These collectibles are part of a set of eight digital Gachapons, each featuring different reward levels.
The game was developed in collaboration with the Azuki NFT collection on the Ethereum blockchain. Gacha Grab allows players to earn credits for each Azuki, Elementals, or Beanz NFT they possess. The AnimeCoin Foundation highlighted that participants of the first Bonus Quest in March are entitled to an additional 100 bonus credits.
According to AnimeCoin, Gachapons are classified into three rarity tiers: Esteemed, Grand, and Legend. Players have the opportunity to form “squads” with their owned NFTs to enhance their rewards. Additionally, by “levelling up” their Azuki profile, players increase their chances of winning rarer NFTs.
Beginning on April 6, the AnimeCoin Foundation will implement a 2x credit earn boost, which will continue for two weeks. This enhancement aims to encourage more engagement and competition among players, who can track their standings on the Gacha Grab leaderboard. However, the Foundation has advised players that the Gachapons earned through NFT credits are linked to the specific NFTs, and ownership of these Gachapons will transfer if the NFT is sold.
Azuki, launched in January 2022 by Los Angeles-based Chiru Labs, is a collection of 10,000 anime-themed NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. Currently, the collection boasts a floor price of 4.9 ETH, approximately $14,550.
Founded in March by a consortium that includes the Arbitrum Foundation, Weeb3 Foundation, and Chiru Labs, AnimeChain aspires to be the prime destination for anime-themed projects. It leverages Ethereum scaling technologies provided by Arbitrum to enhance its capabilities and offer a robust platform for its users.
Gacha Grab introduces an innovative and interactive way for NFT collectors to engage with their digital assets while competing for unique rewards. As the platform evolves, it may set a new standard for NFT-based games, particularly in the anime sector.
